So on the heels of the curiously-timed release of the Levinson photos, suddenly now we're also told that Iranian hackers must have been behind a wave of "unprecedented" attacks on the computer systems of US banks:
Since September, intruders have caused major disruptions to the online banking sites of Bank of America, Citigroup, Wells Fargo, U.S. Bancorp, PNC, Capital One, Fifth Third Bank, BB&T and HSBC.
Yeah, strange how no one had heard of this even though it was going on "since September"...and we're now told of it, just in time for the Hagel nomination.
Actually they've been talking about this since September. It's been mostly in the infosec press, not the MSM. But this time they're claiming that they're "sure" it's Iran, whereas last time they just "thought" it was Iran.
However, the evidence is the same zero it was before. The sole evidence, in fact, is that they CAN'T find where the command and control servers are for the DDoS attack (which is usually not that hard to do).
The other "evidence" is that the DDoS attacks are particularly powerful. This isn't much in the way of evidence as very powerful DDoS attacks have been mounted before by hacker groups.
So, as usual, because they can't prove Iran is behind it - it has to be Iran.
