Excerptof the obituary for Abolfath Mirza Mahvi, a Qajar dynasty descendant: As a reminder that Iran's nuclear program started under the Shah, with the encouragement and support of the same countries that today are demanding that Iran give up its nuclear program:
Throughout his career, Shazdeh Mahvi orchestrated some of Iran's biggest international business partnerships with companies such as Amerada Hess Oil, Airbus, Bechtel, Bendix, Boeing, Bowden Drilling, Bristow Helicopters, CSC Corp, EDS, Flour, Fokker Aircraft, Fromatom, GE, Honeywell, Hughes Aircraft, KWU, Litton Aero, McDonald Douglas, Northrop, Ralph Parsons, Rockwell International, Spie Batignolles, Standard Oil of Indiana, Siemens, Thyssen, and Westinghouse.
He was instrumental in setting up Pan American International Oil Company in Iran and served as its managing director there until 1967. Mahvi also created Iran's only military aircraft service company by forming a partnership between Northrop and Israeli Aircraft Industries into a new monopoly called Iran Aircraft Services Inc., or IASI, which serviced the IIAF military aircraft. He formed ISIRAN (Information Systems Iran), a joint venture with Honeywell, which serviced the Iranian Armed Forces data processing needs until he sold it to the government in 1972.
Perhaps most significantly, in 1974 Mahvi spearheaded Iran nuclear energy program at the Shah's request. Mahvi founded INECO, Iran Nuclear Energy Company, and partnered with Siemens / KWU in order to build the two, 1200MW power plants in the gulf region.
