I was reading this article about how Obama supposedly warned China that he couldn't keep Israel from bombing Iran indefinitely in order to get China's support for sanctions, and I was reminded of a question that I had wondered about a few months ago:
What is the Farsi equivalent of "Good Cop/Bad Cop"??
As in this case the US is playing the role of the Good Cop and the Israelis are the bad cop, and the Chinese are in the chair, shivering at the thought of having all their beautiful oil contracts with Iran blown to bits: "You better support what we want, or else those nasty Israelis will be unleased -- and you wouldn't want THAT, would you, China?"
Of course, this report itself comes from an Israeli source so God only knows if this ever happened or if it is self-flattery by the Israelis who like to think the Presidents of the United States and China really take all their whining about "IRan's an existential threat" seriously, when other Israeli officials privately don't feel particularly threatened by Iran despite their public stance.
I suspect that the Chinese have seen this movie before, and know that any sanctions they support will only serve as an increment to the same war that Obama pretends he's avoiding.
