Emory School of Law Professor David Bederman triumphed in a U.S. Supreme Court case on Tuesday despite representing an unpopular client in a case that raised a question of statutory interpretation.
Six justices signed the majority opinion deciding for the petitioner in Ministry of Defense and Support for the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran v. Elahi, while three dissented. The Supreme Court overturned the previous decision in favor of Dariush Elahi by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
