Both Gary Milhollin and Kenneth Pollack have recently published pieces in which they insist that the US must seek to deprive Iran of her absolute, unquestionable, inalienable and sovereign right to enrich uranium. Pollack suggests that Iran should be given an offer -- an ultimatum of sorts, really -- and Milhollin insists on threats of more sanctions. But in either case, they are presenting the issue as a fundamental false choice, according to which Iran must either be deprives of uranium enrichment or else Iran will build nukes.
I have written about this false choice fallacy in the past. Basically, in presenting the matter as "either prevent Iran's enrichment or else Iran will go nuclear", they're conveniently limiting the range of choices leaving out a significant option: accepting Iran's compromise proposals that would address any real concern that Iran's nuclear program could be used to make bombs.
This is known as the False Choice fallacy -- a classic example.
And why are they presenting the issue as a false choice? Because nuclear proliferation is not really their concern -- they're more interested in depriving Iran of nuclear energy, ensuring Israel's domination over the Mideast, and eventually toppling the Iranian government and replacing it with a puppet regime like in Jordan. THAT is their real agenda, and so no amount of Iranian compromises on the nuclear issue will ever suffice. Even if IRan gives up enrichment, they'll come back with yet more demands.
And I have to say, I find it amusing that Pollack and Milhollin have the nerve to still show their faces in public, considering how wrong they were over Iraq. This is the same Milhollin who characterized weapons inspectors as being "timid" and "irrelevant" for their "failure" to find the non-existent WMDs in IRaq. And don't even get me started on Pollack.
However, just to clarify: the "threat" that Iran could re-enrich its stock of low-enriched uranium and make weapons-grade, highly enriched uranium -- which Milhollin harps on so much -- was specifically addressed by Iran's compromise proposals too. Specifically, the Iranians offered to:
Limit the enrichment of nuclear materials so that they are suitable for energy production but not for weaponry;
Immediately convert all enriched uranium to fuel rods, thereby precluding the possibility of further enrichment
ANd yet their compromise offers were dismissed without consideration, thus proving yet again that the whole nuclear weapons issue is merely pretextual.
Two very devoted and dedicated Zionist agents!!!! I wonder how much Israel pays bastards like Dershowitz, Millholin, and the rest of the double-agents who feverishly render their services to their masters, who kill innocent and helpless Palestinian children in cold blood.
