During the course of an interview with Al-Arabiya, IAEA director ElBarade says that Iran's nuclear program does not pose a threat and should not be attacked -- but if Iran is attacked, Iran could decide to withdraw from the NPT and start to build nukes in earnest, at which point it would take them a minimum of 6 month to one year to make a single nuclear weapon.
Right-wing bloggers start with screaming headlines, proded on by MEMRI, a pro-Israeli propagand front: "ElBaradei says Iran could make a bomb in six months to a year!"
So did you get that? ElBaradei said Iran's nuclear program poses no threat, the Right blogs report that Iran is about to make nukes.
But hey, why let nuance and accuracy get in the way of good old fashioned scaremongering?
maybe Elbaradei didn't watch the military parade in iran which paraded some trucks carrying huge missiles. maybe he didn't hear ahmadinejad's speach on his wish of the destruction of israel.
Elbaradei is supposed to say wheather iran is developing nuclear weapons, and his answer to that was: they are 6-12 months away from it.
